End of Term - Spirituality Update

Throughout the month of May, we pray most especially to Our Lady, asking her to intercede for us with her Son, Jesus. At the Infant School we were delighted to welcome Bishop Paul Hendricks to say Mass for the Crowning of Mary, and the Junior School shared a special Crowning of Mary liturgy. Both schools shared a reflection for the Solemnity of the Ascension of the Lord and as we go towards the Feast of Pentecost which marks the end of Eastertide we remember that Jesus is always with us through the Holy Spirit.

Spirituality Sunday 8th May 2022 4th Sunday of Easter

May marks the beginning of spring and is also the month when we remember Our Lady, patron of our school.  This week, the Y6 Chaplaincy Team prepared a service for the Juniors.  Our Head Boy and Girl placed a crown of flowers on our school statue of Mary, and the school celebrated by praying together in the hall. We shared a litany and found out some of the names used to honour Mary. We finished with our school song.

In Junior classrooms this week, we found out about how and why our Muslim brothers and sisters celebrated Eid on Monday.  Some children had noticed banners and balloons in Carshalton as members of our local community shared their happiness with each other.  You may spot some of these when you are out and about this weekend.

Pray, Fast, Give: Catholic Children's Society

During Lent we are invited to Pray, Fast and Give. This year we have chosen to help CCS and the collection boxes for the Catholic Children's Society went home in book bags this week. Please return these to school after the Easter break.

The Catholic Children’s Society supports disadvantaged children and families across London, Hertfordshire and the South East.  They work with individuals of all faiths and none; their sole aim is to help those in greatest need. Throughout Lent, our pupils will find out about some of the children the charity has helped in the past.

Sacrament of Reconcilation

We were delighted to welcome Father Luke to school today. He was so pleased to meet over 20 of our children at lunchtime and to share with them the Sacrament of Reconciliation. This was a wonderful way to begin the season of Lent. Father Luke will return again before we break up for the Easter holidays.

World Thinking Day is a celebration of ten million girls worldwide that has taken place on every 22 February since 1926. It remains a day for all Guides and Girl Scouts to think of each other and celebrate their sisters all around the world. So for this day all Guides and Girl Scouts can attend school in their school uniform
